About this service

What we cover.

Doors, skirting, architrave, fitted wardrobes, decking, fences and bespoke joinery — hand-finished work, proper joinery technique.

Carpentry is what most of our crew started in, and it shows. We cover everything from quick door hangs to fully bespoke fitted furniture, decking, fencing and structural carpentry. Hand-finished joinery, real measurements, no MDF rushjobs.

Free quotes, fair prices, and we leave it tidier than we found it. Most of our work is from word of mouth — handy when you're picking a tradesman to let inside your home.

For the depth on what each part of the work involves, see our specialisations breakdown below.

Door Hanging

Internal, external and fire doors

Hanging a door right is one of those carpentry tests where every gap, every shave, every reveal shows. We hang internal doors with proper 3mm reveals all round, even gaps top and bottom, and hinges chiselled in so they sit flush. External doors get weatherstripping and the threshold sealed properly. Fire doors get fitted to spec — intumescent strips, three hinges, and the right closer.

  • Internal door hanging — single or batch jobs
  • External and patio door hanging
  • Fire door installation to current regs
  • Hinge replacement and door re-hanging
  • Sticking-door fixes (often a hinge or frame issue, not the door)

Skirting & Architrave

Profiles, mitres, scribed corners

Skirting and architrave finish a room — bad mitres and gaps make even good plastering look amateur. We cut clean 45° mitres on external corners and scribe internal corners (which is the proper way for skirting, since walls are never truly square). MDF, softwood or hardwood — we'll match existing profiles or supply new ones, and we caulk every join before paint goes on.

  • Skirting board fitting — full rooms or replacement runs
  • Architrave around doors and windows
  • Profile matching to existing skirtings
  • MDF, softwood (pine) and hardwood
  • Caulked joins ready for painting

Fitted Wardrobes & Alcove Units

Bespoke built-in joinery to fit your space

Fitted wardrobes and alcove units are bespoke joinery built to fit walls that aren't square, ceilings that slope, and skirting that gets in the way. We design and build to the space rather than buying off-the-shelf units that leave dead gaps. Every piece is templated on-site, built either in-shop or on-site, and finished by hand — sanded, sprayed or painted. The result looks like it was always there.

  • Fitted bedroom wardrobes — full-height or part-wall
  • Alcove cupboards and bookshelves either side of chimney
  • Under-stairs storage and pull-out drawers
  • Sliding-door wardrobe systems
  • Spray or hand-painted finishes

Decking & Garden Carpentry

Hardwood, softwood and composite decks

Decking, pergolas, garden offices and outdoor structures. The single most important thing about decking is what's underneath — a proper subframe with the right joist spacing and ground clearance is what stops a deck from rotting in three years. We use treated softwood, hardwood (iroko, ipe) or composite boards depending on budget and how much maintenance you want to do.

  • Garden decking — softwood, hardwood and composite
  • Pergolas and decking handrails
  • Garden offices and timber outbuildings
  • Raised planters and garden screening
  • Subframe over patios, gravel or grass

Fencing & Gates

Closeboard, panel, post-and-rail, bespoke gates

Fencing failures are almost always the posts — concrete spurs and proper post-mix make the difference between a fence that lasts 15 years and one that's leaning over after the first storm. We fit standard panel fencing, closeboard (the more durable feather-edge style), post-and-rail for paddocks, and we build bespoke gates to match. Every post goes in concrete with a proper depth.

  • Panel fencing — standard and decorative
  • Closeboard (feather-edge) fencing
  • Post-and-rail and stock fencing
  • Bespoke timber gates (pedestrian and driveway)
  • Repair work — replacing rotten posts and panels

Built me a set of fitted alcove units that genuinely look like they came out of a furniture shop. Solid joinery, perfect finish, fair price. Spot on.
