Most of what we paint is the inside of homes — single rooms, hallways, whole-house repaints. We're particular about prep because that's the difference between a paint job that lasts ten years and one that needs redoing in two. Floors get sheeted, skirtings get masked, walls get sanded, filled, caulked and sealed. Then two coats minimum on walls and ceilings, edges cut by hand, and woodwork done in a separate pass with proper drying time.

Outside paint takes a beating from Somerset weather, and the wrong product fails fast. We use breathable masonry paint on render and stone, microporous wood paint on timber, and proper exterior gloss on metal. Prep is even more important outside — pressure washing, scraping any peeling paint back to a sound edge, and sealing chalky surfaces before the first coat goes on.

Wallpaper's back in fashion — feature walls, bedrooms, hallways. Whether it's a budget paste-the-wall vinyl or a hand-painted Cole & Son roll that costs more than the carpet, we hang it square, pattern-match every join, and trim cleanly into corners. We also strip old wallpaper and prep the wall properly first — a fresh paper over a bad surface always shows through.

Some surfaces look better sprayed than brushed — kitchen units, fitted wardrobes, panel doors, feature joinery. Spraying gives a glass-flat finish you can't match with a brush, and modern water-based spray paints are quick-drying and low-odour so we can do it on-site. We mask off everything that isn't getting sprayed, control overspray with extraction, and the finish dries hard enough to use within 24 hours.
